When should you involve an advisor?
The right time is when you face a decision with significant cost, risk, or organizational impact and you want an experienced perspective before committing. Common triggers: a major technology migration, a new AI initiative, preparing for compliance requirements, or scaling the engineering organization through a growth phase.
How do engagements work?
Every engagement starts with a discovery conversation, typically 60 to 90 minutes, to understand your situation and determine fit. If we decide to work together, I propose a scope and timeline. Most engagements run between 4 and 24 weeks with weekly touchpoints. I work directly with your leadership team, not through layers of project management.
What does success look like?
Success is defined at the start of each engagement with concrete criteria. Examples: first AI feature in production, deployment frequency improved by a specific percentage, SOC 2 readiness achieved by a target date, or engineering team survey scores improved. I avoid vague objectives and push for measurable outcomes.
What if my challenge does not fit neatly into one pillar?
Most real situations span multiple areas. The pillars describe focus areas, not rigid packages. Engagements are scoped to your actual needs. If you are modernizing infrastructure and simultaneously building an AI capability, we address both in a coordinated plan.
How is this different from a consulting firm?
I work directly, not through junior associates. You get one experienced advisor who has held the roles you are hiring for, not a team learning your domain on your budget. The output is decisions and execution, not slide decks.
